The image shows two smartphones displaying different screens of an app. The phone on the left shows a project overview page with tasks, notes, and checklists for the "Smith Project" in Lincoln, NE. The tasks are listed, and there is an option to add more tasks. The phone on the right displays a task creation or editing screen, where a new task "Pick up excess drywall" is being typed in. Both phones highlight the task management features of the app, showcasing the ease of adding and viewing tasks related to a project.

Behind the Scenes

“Life is a journey, not a destination.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson

Hey, I’m Lance 👋. My journey began in San Francisco, where I studied Industrial Design. Seeking to make a more sustainable impact, I transitioned to the world of software and never looked back.

With over 4 years of experience as a Product Design Generalist, I focus on understanding the root problems users face while creating solutions that balance practicality and innovation.

Outside of work, I love being outdoors. You can find me hiking up the nearest mountain, scuba diving on a wreck, or tinkering with my Tacoma’s suspension for absolutely no reason other than to pretend I’m a mechanic.

When not otherwise occupied, I’m probably walking my Aussie, Arlo, for the third time of the day.

  • A happy dog with blue eyes stands in a forested area, surrounded by trees with fallen leaves on the ground. The dog is looking towards the camera, with a joyful expression.
  • A scuba diver swimming through a kelp forrest
  • A scenic view of a river flowing through a lush, green valley. Trees line the riverbank, and two people are sitting on the grass near the river. The sky is clear with a few fluffy clouds, creating a peaceful outdoor setting.
  • A dog stands on a rocky outcrop overlooking a scenic, forested landscape. The sky is partly cloudy, and a river or lake is visible in the distance, adding to the natural beauty of the scene.
  • A scuba diver underwater making a “rock on” hand gesture. The diver is surrounded by coral and marine life, with sunlight penetrating the water and creating a bright, clear view.

"Special shoutout to Lance for his ability to quickly knock out figma and whimsical prototypes that allow us to explore tons of ideas and compare variations against each other, which is very useful for the team."

"The team routinely complimented Lance on his questions and ability to get to the root of the problem with a customer. Engineers were very happy to see that we aren't building stuff based on hunches but rather verified user feedback. I've been on quite a few interviews with him over the last 2 months and can confidently say, he kicks ass."

"Lance cares. Like, a LOT. He cares about context, building the right thing and building the thing right. He's not afraid to call out problems or issues that he sees because he knows it will pay dividends in the end. He's also not afraid to ask the questions that will get him closer to the outcome that he wants."

"Had a great call with Lance yesterday regarding subfolders. I was really clamoring for subfolders until we talked it out a bit. He really shed some light on how we could use Tags better and that I shouldn’t give up on Tags. Really, for me anyway… I wasn’t thinking through the back-office workflow well enough. But now I am, and I’m going to give Tags a chance. Thanks, Lance!"

"You’re pushing back on things with tact and conviction in order to make sure we deliver the best product possible. Really cool stuff. I really appreciate getting to work with you."
